It has been suggested that all young adults should be required to undertake a period of unpaid work helping people in the community. Would the drawbacks be greater than the benefits to the community and the young adults themselves? (Dạng Advantage and Disadvantage)

A. Introduction:

C. Conclusion

In conclusion, while volunteering work brings with it certain disadvantages such as a shortage of time for studying and part-time jobs, I strongly believe that these pale in comparison with the advantages, including improved personal qualities and enhanced employment prospects.

It is claimed that individuals in their teenage years and early twenties should be forced to engage in volunteering work to assist those in need in their communities. Although there are some drawbacks associated with this practice, they are often outweighed by the merits.

Participating in unpaid work to aid others can raise certain concerns. Firstly, young adults may have less time for studying, especially in countries like Vietnam or China where students typically face a heavy academic workload. The resulting deprivation of study time could lead to poor academic performance and mental health issues like burnout. Nevertheless, this issue can be addressed by organizers offering a more flexible volunteering schedule; for example, the dedicated time can be spread throughout a year. Another drawback is that some college students may experience financial burdens for certain periods of time due to insufficient time for part-time jobs. In the long term, however, the skills gained from these community services can be viewed positively by employers, hence enhancing students’ future employability and, consequently, their financial situations.

Moreover, participants in such community activities can reap numerous benefits. One positive aspect is that the youth will have a significant opportunity to develop better personal traits. By observing and interacting with economically disadvantaged or disabled people in their communities, young individuals gain profound insights into the hardships these people face, instilling in them a sense of empathy and compassion. Furthermore, they will have a chance to cultivate valuable soft skills. For instance, helping less tech-savvy individuals use smartphones hones the helpers’ patience, and sharing personal stories with older people helps improve effective communication and careful listening skills.
