Đề thi: The maps below show the future plan about the Biology School in particular university. Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant. (Map)

• show = depict;
• the future plan of = the development project for;
• the Biology School in a particular university = a specific university’s biology school.

• Phần lớn các thay đổi liên quan đến cơ sở vật chất giảng dạy: nhiều chức năng sẽ được mở rộng và bổ sung.
• Các cơ sở vật chất khác, chẳng hạn như giải trí, không thay đổi nhiều.

• Body 1: khu vực phía tây.
• Body 2: khu vực phía bắc.
• Body 3: khu vực trung tâm.

3. Sample Answer band 7.5+

The maps depict the development project for a specific university’s biology school.

In general, the majority of future changes pertain to the school’s teaching facilities, with the expansion and addition of various functions, whereas other facilities, such as recreation, will undergo only minor alterations.

To the west of the school, there is currently a crescent-shaped road stretching north-south, below which is a garden. In the future, the road is intended to remain unchanged, while the garden will be substituted by a staff car park.

Over the north, the present central woodland is scheduled to be scattered, making way for two new functional buildings: a laboratory and an office, as opposed to the constancy of the nearby indoor sports hall.

In the central area, which accommodates the library and the drama center, only the latter will be converted into a music center.

The south is going to witness the upgrade of the single-floor teaching building into a two-story one. Similarly, the lecture room on the right end will be doubled, with a new room being constructed on top of the old one. Finally, while the cafe expects no alterations, the IT center will be expanded significantly.

• Pertain to something [v]: to be connected with something/somebody (liên quan đến ai/cái gì).
• Facility [v]: buildings, services, equipment, etc. that are provided for a particular purpose (cơ sở vật chất, phương tiện).
• Recreation [n]: the fact of people doing things for pleasure, when they are not working (giải trí).
• Alteration [n]: a change to something that makes it different (sự thay đổi).
• shaped [adj]: having the type of shape mentioned, e.g. L-shaped, almond-shaped (có hình dạng gì đó). 
  → Crescent-shaped [adj]: hình bán nguyệt, hình lưỡi liềm.

• Scatter something [v] = disperse something [v]: to spread or to make something spread over a wide area (phân tán).
• Functional [adj]: having a special purpose; making it possible for somebody to do something or for something to happen (chức năng).
• Constancy [n]: the quality of staying the same and not changing (không thay đổi).
• Accommodate something [v]: to provide enough space for somebody/something (chứa).
• Upgrade [n]: the act of improving the condition of a building, etc. in order to provide a better service (nâng cấp). 
• Story/Storey [n]: a level of a building; a floor (tầng).

• Construct something [v]: to build or make something such as a road, building or machine (xây dựng).
• Expand something [v]: to become greater in size, number or importance; to make something greater in size, number or importance (mở rộng).
